Media Advertising Budgets in 2014

Mainstream media advertising budgets saw the biggest increase of all the sectors in the first quarter of 2014, jumping by around 11.7%. This was shortly followed by internet advertising, which rose by 8.5%.This is a strong signal that confidence is high and UK businesses are back on track in the economy this year.

The number of British businesses increasing their marketing spend has grown at its strongest rate for 14 years, according to recent figures.

An IPA Bellwether report, based on around 300 businesses, said a net balance of 20.4% of companies registered an increase in advertising budgets, against 11% in the last quarter of last year.

These numbers add confidence that companies are wanting to invest in marketing and advertising as a result of growing hopes about the economic future.
